Alpha Rev

"Put down the knife you're weilding
Let high stone walls fall away
With gentle time will be an ending
And I'll be here till the colors fade
And I'll be here till your dying day."
-Sing Loud by Alpha Rev

We stumbled across this band when they opened for Ben Rector at the House of Blues. All I can say is they are great. Great live and I can seriously listen to this CD all the way through. There aren't many albums like that.

My favorite songs are "Crystal Colorado" and "Black Sky." But the most popular song on the album is "Sing Loud" which reached #15 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary Chart.

Next DFW show is Friday, July 12th at the Granada.

On Grouper

I had no clue what this was. At all. But then everyone was doing it. Grouper. The 3 on 3 round of drinks. The social club. The, we are pairing you with someone who is relatively your age and of the opposite sex, cross your fingers hope his friends are good looking, thing.

I think its fairly genius. A great way to meet new people. Takes the pressure off. You have your friends, they have their friends and everyone goes in with little expectation. Those are ALWAYS the best situations.

So you become a "member". Fill out a few miscellaneous questions regarding how important your race is to you and tip your preferred age scale between Hugh Hefner and Beiber and you're practically set. Grouper looks at your Facebook page to pick your grouper partner (I am convinced all they look at really is geographic location and age) and then both people bring 2 wing-people. You receive the location and time the day before (groupers are always on Thursdays, and normally at 8 or 8:30 PM).

Your job is to show up, meet new people, and have a great time.

The real genius difference between Grouper and anything else out there is Grouper facilities an actual meet up. Schedules it, picks the place and its easy. Seamless. Convenient.

I totally reccomend it.
